Job Description
Are you a skilled and reliable driver with a passion for providing excellent service? Evri is looking for a dedicated Courier Driver to join our dynamic team in Armley, Leeds. This full-time position offers a fantastic opportunity to be an integral part of a leading logistics company, delivering parcels safely and efficiently across designated local routes. As a Courier Driver, you will be the face of Evri, connecting our customers with their deliveries every day. You’ll be responsible for more than just driving; you’ll manage your route, interact with customers, and ensure every parcel reaches its destination in perfect condition and on time. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently deliver parcels to residential and business addresses within the designated Armley, Leeds area.
- Plan and manage daily delivery routes to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, optimising for efficiency.
- Load and unload parcels from the delivery vehicle, ensuring items are handled with care and secured appropriately.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and maintain the cleanliness of the company vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Provide exceptional customer service, interacting politely and professionally with recipients, addressing any immediate concerns.
- Accurately record delivery and collection information using handheld devices and company software.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations, traffic laws, and company policies and procedures.
- Report any issues, delays, or incidents encountered during deliveries to the local depot or team leader.
- Handle customer queries and resolve minor delivery issues effectively, escalating complex problems as needed.
- Process cash on delivery payments or obtain signatures/proof of delivery as required.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving license (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Proven experience driving light commercial vehicles (LCVs) or vans in a professional capacity.
- Excellent knowledge of local roads and routes within Leeds, particularly the Armley postcode areas.
- Strong time management and organisational skills to meet tight delivery schedules.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving.
- Good physical fitness for lifting and carrying parcels of varying weights and sizes throughout the day.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with a polite and approachable manner.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic proficiency with navigation apps and handheld scanning devices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a courier, multi-drop delivery, or logistics role.
- Familiarity with handheld delivery technology/scanners and route optimisation software.
- A clean driving record with no accidents in the past three years.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing route demands, parcel volumes, and occasional overtime.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
