Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mason to join our dynamic construction team in Rumuogba Estate, Port Harcourt. As a Mason at Gedisco Nigeria Limited, you will be instrumental in laying bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry materials to construct and repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures. Your expertise will contribute directly to the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of our projects, ranging from residential buildings to large-scale commercial and industrial facilities. This role requires precision, attention to detail, a strong understanding of various masonry techniques, and strict adherence to safety protocols. You will work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and other tradespersons to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of building codes and construction principles, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry units to construct or repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Mix mortar, concrete, and grout according to specifications, ensuring proper consistency and strength.
- Measure and cut masonry materials accurately, using hand and power tools.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate materials required.
- Ensure the proper alignment, level, and plumb of all masonry work.
- Apply plaster, stucco, and other finishes to masonry surfaces as required.
- Repair, restore, and maintain existing masonry structures, addressing cracks, deteriorated mortar, and other damage.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry standards, and local building codes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage of tools and materials.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals, including carpenters, plumbers, and electricians.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mason in a construction environment.
- Excellent knowledge of masonry materials, tools, and techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations in construction.
- Exceptional manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Ability to work accurately and precisely, with great attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
