Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload freight by hand or by using material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified).
- Verify counts of freight being loaded or unloaded against manifests and shipping documents, ensuring accuracy and reporting discrepancies.
- Properly sort, stage, and secure freight within the trailer or warehouse to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and federal/state regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including sweeping trailers and keeping aisles clear.
- Operate warehouse equipment in a safe and responsible manner, conducting pre-shift inspections.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily loading and unloading schedules and goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and logistics operations and maintain fluid operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry freight weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate freight verification and documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures and commitment to safe practices.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. and willingness to undergo sponsorship processes if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, logistics, or freight handling environment.
- Experience operating a forklift, electric pallet jack, or other material handling equipment, with current certification a plus.
- Familiarity with scanning equipment and basic warehouse management systems (WMS).
