As a Tax Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in advising clients on intricate Congolese tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance, optimizing tax positions, and identifying potential risks and opportunities. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, conducting tax research, and offering practical, actionable insights tailored to our clients’ specific business objectives. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on Congolese tax laws and regulations to a diverse client base.
  • Prepare and review corporate, individual, and other relevant tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to support client positions and identify strategic tax planning opportunities.
  • Assist clients with tax audit defense, dispute resolution, and communication with tax authorities.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their business needs and delivering tailored tax solutions.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation, economic trends, and industry developments in the DRC and broader region.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., assurance, advisory) to provide integrated client services.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and internal knowledge sharing on emerging tax issues.
  • Supervise and mentor junior tax staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in tax consulting or a similar role within an accounting firm or corporate tax department.
  • In-depth knowledge of Congolese tax legislation, decrees, and administrative practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or Law.
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with international tax concepts (e.g., transfer pricing, international tax treaties).
  • Familiarity with local business practices and economic context in the Kasai Province.
  • Fluency in Lingala or Tshiluba.
