Job Description

Pia’s Bistro is actively seeking a diligent and energetic Kitchen Prep Line Worker to join our dynamic culinary team in Sandy Hill, Ottawa. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing a wide range of vegetables, fruits, and proteins.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to specific recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Assist line cooks with plating and garnishing dishes during peak service hours.
  • Ensure all food items are stored properly and rotated efficiently to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift, adhering strictly to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Assist with washing dishes, pots, and pans, and ensure kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and stored.
  • Monitor inventory levels for prep items and communicate needs to the kitchen supervisor.
  • Receive and properly store deliveries, verifying accuracy and quality of products.
  • Collaborate effectively with all kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest service.

Required Skills

  • Basic knife skills and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6+ months) in a commercial kitchen or food service setting.
