Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor efficient transport schedules and routes to optimize delivery times and reduce operational costs.
  • Oversee the daily management of the motor pool, including vehicle allocation, dispatching, and tracking to ensure timely departures and arrivals.
  • Supervise and train drivers, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and traffic regulations.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure regular servicing, repairs, and inspections of all fleet vehicles, minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle performance, and maintenance records to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local and national transportation laws, safety standards, and company specific operational procedures.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on fleet performance, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and incident management for management review.
  • Implement and manage contingency plans for unexpected delays, vehicle breakdowns, or route disruptions.
  • Utilize transport management systems (TMS) and GPS tracking software to enhance operational visibility and control.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and client service teams to ensure seamless coordination between transport and other logistical functions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in logistics and transport management, specifically motor pool operations.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards in Nigeria.
  • Proficiency in logistics software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective team leadership and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
