Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Policy Analyst with a strong focus on research and governance to join our dynamic team at the Portland Parish Council. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on socio-economic trends, public issues, and existing policies relevant to Portland Parish.
- Draft, review, and evaluate policy proposals, white papers, and briefing documents for senior management and Council members.
- Assess the potential impact of proposed policies on various community sectors and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, community groups, and citizens to gather data and solicit feedback on policy matters.
- Monitor and report on the implementation and effectiveness of approved policies and programs.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on governance best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and other communication materials to disseminate research findings and policy recommendations.
- Stay abreast of national and international policy developments that may affect local governance in Jamaica.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and development initiatives of the Portland Parish Council.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in policy analysis, research, or governance within a public sector or non-profit environment.
- Proven ability to conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative research.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
