Job Description

Limoneira Company is actively seeking an experienced and dedicated Farm Supervisor to join our dynamic team, specifically for our Southern California operations managed from our Riverside administrative hub. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage daily farm operations, including planting, cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting of citrus and avocado crops.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of farm workers, fostering a positive, productive, and safe work environment.
  • Monitor crop health diligently, identify potential issues (pests, diseases, nutritional deficiencies), and implement timely and effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and safe operation of all farm equipment and machinery.
  • Implement and enforce all company safety protocols, policies, and agricultural regulations, including those related to worker protection standards.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all farm activities, labor hours, crop yields, input usage, and inventory.
  • Collaborate closely with the Farm Manager to develop and execute seasonal work plans, production schedules, and operational budgets.
  • Optimize irrigation schedules and water usage efficiency through smart monitoring and application techniques.
  • Participate actively in quality control efforts to ensure that all harvested produce meets Limoneira's stringent quality standards.
  • Provide regular, comprehensive reports on farm performance, progress towards targets, and any challenges encountered.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in agricultural supervision or management, with a focus on tree crops (citrus and avocados preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of modern farming techniques, including efficient irrigation systems, sustainable cultivation practices, and integrated pest and disease management.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and exceptional team management skills, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities, especially under pressure.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting various farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal, for effective communication and record-keeping.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks as required by farm operations.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Crop Science, or a closely related field.
  • Direct experience with sustainable farming practices, organic certification processes, and environmental compliance.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is a significant advantage for communication with diverse workforces.
  • Familiarity with agricultural software, GPS systems, and data management platforms for precision agriculture.
  • Previous experience working in a large-scale commercial farming or agribusiness environment.
