Job Description

World Vision Mozambique is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grants Officer (Oficial de Subvenções) to join our dynamic team. This pivotal full-time, on-site role, based in Maputo, requires an immediate start. The Grants Officer will be instrumental in supporting the development and management of grant proposals and reports, playing a crucial role in securing and stewarding funding from diverse institutional donors, foundations, and government agencies. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with donor requirements, contributing to the growth of World Vision’s programming portfolio, and ultimately, expanding our reach and impact on vulnerable children and communities across Mozambique. This role demands exceptional writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a strategic mindset to identify funding opportunities that align with World Vision’s strategic priorities. You will work collaboratively with program teams, technical specialists, finance, and operations colleagues to develop compelling proposals, manage grant lifecycles, and ensure timely and accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the international development context in Mozambique, a proven track record in grants acquisition and management, and a passion for child-focused development. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-quality, compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest in collaboration with technical and program teams.
  • Manage the grant lifecycle from identification of opportunities to proposal submission, award management, and reporting.
  • Ensure strict compliance with donor requirements, World Vision policies, and national regulations throughout all grant activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with institutional donors, local government agencies, and partner organizations.
  • Monitor donor landscapes, funding trends, and opportunities relevant to World Vision's strategic objectives in Mozambique.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely narrative and financial reports to donors, ensuring alignment with grant agreements.
  • Facilitate internal coordination meetings for proposal development and grant management, ensuring alignment across departments.
  • Contribute to the development of grants acquisition strategies and plans.
  • Support capacity building of local staff and partners in grants management and proposal writing.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in grants acquisition and management, particularly with institutional donors (e.g., USAID, EU, FCDO, UN agencies).
  • Proven track record in successful proposal writing and report generation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in budget development and financial management related to grants.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multicultural environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with child-focused development or humanitarian organizations.
  • Familiarity with the Mozambican development context and local regulations.
  • Experience with specific donor portals and grant management systems.
