Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cheque cashing, and bill payments.
- Accurately balance cash drawer daily and maintain strict adherence to cash handling procedures and security protocols.
- Verify customer identities and transaction details to prevent fraud and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Respond to customer inquiries, provide account information, and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services, referring customers to appropriate specialists when necessary.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for all branch visitors.
- Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., AML, KYC).
- Assist with other branch operations as required, including opening/closing procedures and maintaining a tidy workstation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cash handling and balancing.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in numerical data.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn banking software quickly.
- High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
- Minimum of a National Diploma (ND) or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Teller or in a similar customer-facing role within a financial institution.
- Familiarity with banking regulations and compliance standards in Nigeria.
- Proficiency in local languages (beyond English) pertinent to Port Harcourt.
