Job Description
Oando Plc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Abuja, Nigeria. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems and components for various company assets, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for new electrical installations and upgrades.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications, project timelines, and safety standards.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical issues in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs and schedules for electrical infrastructure, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, technical specifications, project documentation, and cost estimates.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant local and international electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC, DPR).
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, operations personnel, and project management, to achieve project goals.
- Supervise junior engineers, technicians, and contractors on electrical projects, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes in electrical engineering, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSCAD, Revit MEP).
- Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, and protection relays.
- Expertise in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial automation and control.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards, procedures, and hazard analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven project management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related specialized field.
- Professional certification such as COREN registration (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria), or equivalent international professional engineering license.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, hydropower) integration.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications (e.g., ATEX, IECEx) and equipment selection.
- Experience in the oil and gas or broader energy industry.
