Job Description

Bright Stars Nursery Ibrox is seeking a dedicated Childminder to join our loving team, providing exceptional care and educational support to children during daytime hours. As a Childminder with us, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, stimulating, and enriching environment where children can learn, play, and develop across all areas. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, nurturing, and engaging care for children during daytime hours, ensuring their well-being at all times.
  • Plan, organise, and lead age-appropriate educational and recreational activities, fostering children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy environment, including regular cleaning of play areas, equipment, and facilities.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious snacks and meals, accommodating dietary restrictions and promoting healthy eating habits.
  • Support children with personal care routines, including nappy changing, toilet training, and hygiene practices.
  • Observe and record children's progress, behaviour, and development, sharing insights with parents and colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with parents, providing daily updates on their child's activities, achievements, and any concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to all nursery policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including health and safety, safeguarding, and child protection.
  • Collaborate with other team members to create a cohesive and supportive working environment.
  • Administer basic first aid when necessary, following established protocols and maintaining up-to-date certification.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years' professional experience in childcare, nursery, or childminding settings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of child development stages (0-5 years).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Current Paediatric First Aid certification.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • HNC in Childhood Practice or similar recognised childcare qualification.
  • Experience with diverse learning needs and inclusive practices.
  • Full clean UK driving license (desirable for potential outings).
