SOLARC Congo is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Renewable Energy Engineer with a specialization in Solar Installation to join our dynamic team in Kananga, Kasaï-Central Province. This pivotal role involves overseeing the full lifecycle of solar PV projects, from initial site assessment and system design to hands-on installation supervision and post-installation support. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed site assessments, including energy audits, shade analysis, and structural evaluations, to determine optimal solar PV system layouts and specifications.
  • Design custom grid-tied and off-grid solar photovoltaic systems, utilizing industry-standard software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD) to create single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical layouts.
  • Develop comprehensive bills of materials (BOMs) and technical specifications for solar components, ensuring compliance with local and international electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Oversee and manage the installation, commissioning, and testing of solar PV systems, working closely with installation teams to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to installation technicians and junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and best practices.
  • Perform diagnostic analysis and troubleshooting on existing solar installations, identifying and resolving operational issues to maximize system performance and longevity.
  • Prepare detailed project documentation, including design reports, installation manuals, and performance monitoring reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to provide technical support during the proposal phase, including cost estimations and technical presentations to clients.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in solar technology, renewable energy policies, and industry best practices to continuously enhance SOLARC Congo's offerings.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including both grid-tied and off-grid configurations.
  • Strong proficiency in electrical engineering principles, power electronics, and solar energy fundamentals.
  • Expertise in using solar design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) for electrical layouts and mechanical drawings.
  • Solid understanding of national and international electrical codes and safety standards relevant to solar installations (e.g., IEC, NEC).
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and French.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in diverse environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Certifications in solar PV design and installation (e.g., NABCEP, Solar Energy International).
  • Experience with energy storage systems (battery banks, hybrid inverters) integrated with solar PV.
  • Familiarity with remote monitoring and control systems for solar installations.
  • Prior experience working in the Democratic Republic of Congo or other sub-Saharan African markets.
  • Knowledge of local permitting processes and regulations for renewable energy projects.
