Key Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, chop, and prepare a variety of fresh ingredients, including fruits, vegetables, herbs, and proteins, following recipes and standardized procedures.
  • Assist chefs with 'mise en place,' ensuring all ingredients are prepped, portioned, and meticulously organized for efficient service.
  • Accurately portion and store food items, strictly adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper labeling and rotation.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized workstation throughout shifts and actively contribute to the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen area.
  • Monitor ingredient inventory levels and proactively communicate supply needs to kitchen management to avoid shortages.
  • Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including slicers, blenders, and food processors.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock (FIFO) and checking for quality and accuracy.
  • Support the culinary team during peak service times and assist with various kitchen tasks as needed to maintain smooth operations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including HACCP principles and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Basic knife skills and an understanding of fundamental food preparation techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain composure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality and consistency.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions precisely.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods during shifts.

  • Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6+ months) in a kitchen or food service environment, preferably in a prep role.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (or a willingness to obtain one promptly upon hire).
  • Culinary training or education from a recognized institution is considered an asset.
  • Genuine passion for food and a strong desire to learn new culinary techniques and expand skills.
