Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled, passionate, and experienced On-site Chef to lead our vibrant kitchen team at Gusto Handcrafted Pasta & Pizza in Salinas, California. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Develop and refine existing menus, introduce new dishes, and create daily specials, focusing on authentic Italian flavors and seasonal ingredients.
- Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure consistent high quality of all food items in taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and control food costs without compromising quality.
- Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and sanitation standards in compliance with local regulations.
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.
- Collaborate with restaurant management on staffing, budgeting, and overall restaurant strategy.
- Handle special requests and dietary restrictions, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen at all times.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant setting.
- Proven expertise in Italian cuisine, particularly handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., HACCP).
- Proficiency in inventory management, cost control, and kitchen budgeting.
