Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Automobile Mechanic / Repair Technician to join our dynamic service team in Mile 2, Port Harcourt. Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely diagnostic assessments of vehicle issues, utilizing specialized diagnostic tools and software.
- Execute comprehensive repairs and maintenance services on various vehicle makes and models, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Conduct routine service checks, oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid level inspections.
- Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins to ensure precise repairs.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle conditions, required repairs, and estimated costs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering strictly to company and industry safety standards.
- Document all work performed, including parts used and labor hours, accurately and thoroughly.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
- Assist in quality control checks to ensure all repairs meet R.T. Briscoe's high standards before vehicle handover.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Automobile Mechanic/Technician
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems (engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, electrical)
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment (e.g., scan tools, multimeters)
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade test certificate or equivalent vocational qualification in Automobile Mechanics
- Certification from recognized automotive bodies (e.g., ASE, NADDC)
- Experience with specific vehicle brands represented by R.T. Briscoe (e.g., Toyota, Ford, etc.)
- Familiarity with workshop management software
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a reputable automotive service center
