Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welder with a strong background in metal fabrication to join our dynamic team in Port Harcourt. As a crucial member of our fabrication and construction division, you will be responsible for executing various welding tasks with precision, ensuring the integrity and quality of structural components for our diverse projects within the oil and gas industry. Key Responsibilities
- Perform various welding techniques (e.g., ARC, MIG, TIG, Flux-cored) on different types of metals (carbon steel, stainless steel) according to project specifications and industry standards.
- Read and accurately interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine material requirements, welding methods, and dimensions.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, bevelling, and cleaning surfaces to ensure proper fit-up and strong, defect-free welds.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, including welders, grinders, plasma cutters, and other fabrication tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws, identify defects, and ensure compliance with quality control standards and project specifications.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution and timely completion.
- Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and assist in the setup of new machinery as required.
- Document work performed, including materials used and any issues encountered, for accurate record-keeping and project tracking.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in multiple welding processes (ARC, MIG, TIG, Flux-cored welding).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong understanding of metal properties and their behaviour during welding.
