Key Responsibilities
- Assist delivery drivers with the accurate loading, efficient unloading, and safe handling of packages, ensuring all items are correctly sorted and secured for transport.
- Verify package counts precisely against delivery manifests and identify any discrepancies.
- Navigate designated routes effectively with the driver, assisting with directions and efficiently identifying delivery locations to optimize time.
- Deliver packages to residential and business customers, which often involves carrying packages weighing up to 70 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly demeanor when interacting with customers, representing UPS with distinction and upholding our brand image.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, traffic laws, and operational guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with the driver regarding route progress, potential delays or issues, and any customer feedback.
- Support the driver in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and basic operational readiness of the delivery vehicle.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the driver or supervisor to ensure seamless and efficient delivery operations.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 pounds regularly, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work consistently in various outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and customer interaction.
- Ability to follow directions accurately and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to completing tasks efficiently.
- Basic understanding of navigation principles and local area knowledge of Santa Clarita and surrounding areas is highly beneficial.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
