Job Description
TotalEnergies Nigeria is urgently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrical Technician to join our operations team in Dutse, Abuja. This pivotal role involves ensuring the seamless and safe operation of all electrical systems across our facilities, which may include service stations, depots, and administrative offices within the Abuja region. The Electrical Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide array of electrical equipment and infrastructure. Your expertise will directly contribute to operational efficiency, energy reliability, and, most importantly, the safety of our staff and customers. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment, including generators, switchgear, control panels, lighting, and power distribution units.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment and schematic diagrams.
- Install, repair, and replace electrical wiring, conduits, fixtures, and other electrical components in compliance with national and international electrical codes and company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential electrical hazards and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of electrical parts.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate effectively with other technicians, engineers, and operational staff to coordinate tasks and resolve inter-departmental issues.
- Participate in the commissioning of new electrical installations and modifications.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians or operational staff as needed.
- Manage and oversee small electrical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Required Skills
- Proven proficiency in electrical system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian Electrical Safety Regulations and international electrical codes (e.g., IEC, NFPA 70).
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Hands-on experience with various electrical testing equipment (multimeters, insulation testers, circuit tracers, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A keen understanding of occupational health and safety (OHS) practices related to electrical work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NABTEB Advanced Certificate, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Experience working within the oil and gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems and automation controls.
- Additional training or certification in high voltage systems or specific electrical equipment brands.
- Proven track record of proactive maintenance and safety compliance.
