In this crucial and highly visible role, you will be a frontline representative of GIGL, tasked with ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery and collection of a diverse range of parcels, packages, and goods to our esteemed customers across designated routes within Dutse Alhaji and its surrounding Abuja districts. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load, unload, prepare, and operate a delivery vehicle for various products.
- Deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes within Dutse Alhaji and surrounding areas of Abuja.
- Follow routes and time schedules, ensuring timely deliveries and collections.
- Complete logs and reports accurately, including delivery manifests and customer feedback.
- Collect payments where necessary and accurately reconcile daily transactions.
- Interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner, providing excellent service and resolving any delivery-related issues promptly and courteously.
- Inspect and maintain the delivery vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal working condition and reporting any maintenance needs immediately.
- Comply with all traffic laws and company safety standards and procedures at all times.
- Assist with warehouse duties such as sorting packages, preparing shipments, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment when not on delivery routes.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections, including obtaining and verifying proof of delivery documentation.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian driver's license (Class G or higher) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar transport role, preferably within a logistics setting.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple deliveries efficiently.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 25kg) comfortably.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as an integral part of a larger team.
- Familiarity with GPS devices, mapping applications, and local street navigation within Abuja.
- Good knowledge of traffic laws, road safety regulations, and preferred routes within the Federal Capital Territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent.
- Prior experience working specifically in the logistics or courier service industry.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks and minor troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated customer service experience with a focus on problem-solving.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, routes, and dynamic operational requirements.
