Job Description

TotalEnergies Nigeria is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Petroleum Engineer to join our dynamic team in Kuje, Abuja. This pivotal role involves optimizing oil and gas recovery processes, designing and implementing drilling programs, and analyzing reservoir performance to maximize production efficiency and ensure long-term asset value. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying and evaluating new development opportunities, conducting economic analyses, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including geoscientists, drilling engineers, and production operations personnel. You will apply advanced engineering principles and simulation tools to solve complex technical challenges, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations and company standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform reservoir engineering studies, including material balance, decline curve analysis, and reservoir simulation, to optimize hydrocarbon recovery.
  • Design and implement well completion and workover programs, ensuring technical integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze production data, identifying opportunities for production enhancement and proposing corrective actions.
  • Evaluate drilling and completion proposals, providing expert engineering insights and recommendations to enhance well performance.
  • Conduct economic evaluations and risk assessments for new development projects and investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with geoscientists to integrate geological and geophysical data into reservoir models and field development plans.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company engineering standards in all activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in petroleum engineering roles, preferably within an E&P company.
  • Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, Petrel RE, IPM suite).
  • Strong understanding of reservoir characterization, fluid dynamics, and production optimization techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical information clearly.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with unconventional resources and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian oil and gas industry regulations and best practices.
  • Professional certification (e.g., SPE membership).
