Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Gatekeeper to manage access control and ensure the security of a private residence located within the prestigious Guarimpa Estate, Abuja. This is a critical full-time role designed for an individual who embodies integrity, vigilance, and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the safety and privacy of the residents and property by meticulously controlling entry and exit points. As the first point of contact for visitors and deliveries, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a secure and orderly environment, reflecting the high standards of the residence. Your responsibilities will extend beyond mere gate operation to include a proactive approach to security, including monitoring surroundings, reporting unusual activities, and assisting with minor maintenance tasks related to the entrance area. This role requires an individual who is prepared to commit to long-term service, with a strong sense of responsibility and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control access to the residence, ensuring only authorized individuals and vehicles enter the premises.
- Greet and assist all visitors in a courteous and professional manner, directing them appropriately.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems, reporting any suspicious activities immediately.
- Maintain accurate logs of all visitors, deliveries, and outgoing items.
- Conduct regular patrols of the immediate gate area and perimeter, identifying and reporting potential security breaches or hazards.
- Receive and record incoming mail and packages, ensuring secure delivery to residents.
- Assist with the upkeep and cleanliness of the gate area and immediate surroundings.
- Operate and maintain gate mechanisms, including manual and automated systems.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, following established protocols and notifying relevant personnel.
- Communicate effectively with residents, management, and other staff regarding security matters and daily operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in security, gatekeeping, or a similar role (at least 1 year).
- Strong sense of integrity, honesty, and discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to observe situations critically and make sound judgments.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Physical fitness to stand, walk, and perform light manual duties.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with basic security protocols and emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
- Certification in basic security training or first aid.
- Previous experience working in a residential or private estate setting.
- Knowledge of local areas and common routes in Abuja.
- Ability to operate basic electronic security equipment (CCTV, intercoms).
