Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, including main courses, sides, and desserts, following established recipes and portion control guidelines.
- Ensure all food preparation and storage adhere to strict health and safety regulations, including HACCP standards and local food codes.
- Operate and maintain a range of kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking apparatus.
- Monitor food quality and freshness, conducting regular temperature checks and tasting to ensure optimal flavor and consistency.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries, stocking supplies, and minimizing waste.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
- Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff, front-of-house team members, and management to ensure smooth service operations.
- Accommodate special dietary needs and allergen restrictions as required, demonstrating flexibility and attention to detail.
- Contribute to menu development and improvement discussions, offering creative ideas and feedback.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cook or Kitchen Staff in a professional setting.
- Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation principles (e.g., ServeSafe certification or equivalent).
- Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes accurately.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume kitchen.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary degree or certificate from an accredited institution.
- Experience in institutional food service, university dining, or large-scale catering.
- Knowledge of diverse culinary techniques and international cuisines.
- Basic computer proficiency for inventory or recipe management systems.
