Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily delivery schedules, ensuring optimal route planning and driver allocation.
  • Monitor delivery progress in real-time, addressing any delays or issues promptly to minimise disruption.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for delivery drivers, providing support and guidance on routes, vehicle issues, and customer queries.
  • Process and manage delivery documentation, including manifests, proof of delivery, and compliance records.
  • Liaise with the warehouse team to ensure orders are accurately picked, packed, and ready for dispatch.
  • Assist in the resolution of customer delivery complaints or queries, working with the customer service team to provide timely and effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of delivery performance, vehicle maintenance, and driver hours.
  • Identify and report any logistical inefficiencies or opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and operational procedures within the delivery support function.

Required Skills

  • Proven administrative or operational support experience, preferably in a logistics or retail environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with drivers, colleagues, and customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with learning new internal systems.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.
  • Basic geographical knowledge of Birmingham and surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with route planning software or delivery management systems.
  • Familiarity with retail logistics processes and supply chain operations.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
