Job Description

Genesis Group is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Food Vendor to join our vibrant team in Rumuola, Port Harcourt. As a Food Vendor, you will be instrumental in bringing our unique culinary offerings directly to our customers, whether through a dedicated street food stand, mobile catering unit, or within one of our bustling outlets. You will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and selling a variety of popular food items, ensuring every dish meets our high standards of taste, quality, and hygiene. We’re looking for someone who can manage inventory, handle cash transactions accurately, and maintain a pristine work area, all while radiating positive energy. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of food items according to established recipes and quality standards (e.g., snacks, local delicacies, quick meals).
  • Set up and dismantle food display areas, ensuring all equipment is clean and functional.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and answering questions about menu items.
  • Accurately handle cash and cashless transactions, processing payments and providing correct change.
  • Monitor food inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and reporting any shortages or expiring products.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Promote daily specials and upsell items to enhance customer experience and sales.
  • Provide regular feedback on customer preferences and sales trends to management.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and stored at the end of each shift.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills for accurate cash handling and inventory management.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to food hygiene and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a food vendor, street food operator, or in a restaurant/catering environment.
  • Possession of a valid food handler's permit or certification.
  • Knowledge of local Port Harcourt cuisine and popular street food items.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
