Your primary responsibility will involve efficiently collecting parcels from our local depot or designated collection points and delivering them promptly to residential and business addresses across Middleton and designated routes within Greater Manchester. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently collect parcels from the Middleton depot or designated collection points at scheduled times.
- Plan and execute daily delivery routes to ensure timely and accurate parcel delivery to customers within Middleton and assigned Greater Manchester postcodes.
- Safely load and unload parcels, ensuring items are handled with utmost care to prevent damage.
- Obtain proof of delivery for all parcels, adhering strictly to company procedures (e.g., signatures, photo evidence).
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing queries and resolving minor issues professionally and courteously.
- Accurately record delivery and collection information using handheld scanning devices and company apps.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations, company driving policies, and Highway Code standards at all times.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good working order of the company vehicle (if provided) or personal vehicle, ensuring it meets safety standards.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with the depot team regarding any delivery challenges, delays, or issues encountered on the route.
- Manage time effectively to complete all scheduled deliveries and collections within designated timeframes and service level agreements.
Required Skills
- Full UK driving licence (valid for at least 12 months) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent knowledge of Middleton, Manchester, and surrounding areas to optimise routes.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work to tight schedules in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for positive customer interaction.
- Ability to lift and carry parcels of varying sizes and weights (within health and safety guidelines, up to 25kg).
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic proficiency with handheld scanning devices or smartphones for delivery updates and navigation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a courier, multi-drop delivery driver, or in a similar logistics role.
- Familiarity with route optimization software or advanced navigation apps.
- A clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- Knowledge of parcel handling best practices and security protocols.
- Experience operating various types of delivery vehicles.
