The Event Design Studio Abuja is seeking an experienced and innovative Skilled Event Decorator & Designer to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves leading the execution of decor plans for various events, ensuring every detail aligns with our high standards of excellence and client specifications. You will be instrumental in transforming raw spaces into enchanting environments, working with a diverse range of materials, styles, and themes. From initial conceptualization to final setup, your expertise in floral arrangements, lighting design, fabric draping, prop styling, and space planning will be crucial. Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, design, and execute innovative event decor plans in line with client briefs and company standards.
- Lead the physical setup and breakdown of decor elements at various event venues, ensuring timely and flawless execution.
- Proficiently work with a wide array of decorative materials, including fresh and artificial florals, fabrics, lighting fixtures, props, furniture, and custom builds.
- Collaborate closely with event planners, clients, and internal teams to understand design requirements and translate them into stunning visual realities.
- Manage and organize decor inventory, ensuring proper care, maintenance, and efficient storage of all items.
- Oversee on-site decor teams, providing clear direction, delegating tasks, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Research and stay abreast of the latest trends, materials, and techniques in event design and decoration.
- Prepare design proposals, mood boards, sketches, and 3D renderings (where applicable) to communicate concepts effectively.
- Problem-solve creatively under pressure to address unforeseen challenges during event setup.
- Ensure all decorative elements are installed safely, securely, and aesthetically pleasingly.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in professional event decoration or floral design.
- Exceptional creativity and a strong portfolio showcasing diverse event design projects.
- Proficiency in floral artistry, including arrangement, conditioning, and sourcing.
- Expertise in fabric draping, lighting setup, and prop styling.
- Strong understanding of color theory, spatial aesthetics, and design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans and design mock-ups.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items, work long hours, and stand for extended periods.
- Problem-solving aptitude and ability to adapt to changing event requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualification or certification in Event Design, Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) for rendering concepts.
- Experience in custom fabrication or prop building.
- Knowledge of local suppliers and vendors for decor materials and rentals in Abuja.
- Previous experience leading a small team on event setups.
