Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Technician to join our dynamic team in Apapa, Lagos. This is an immediate hiring opportunity for a professional who can contribute to the seamless operation and maintenance of critical electrical systems within our industrial facilities. As an Electrical Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our electrical infrastructure, which includes power generation, distribution, control systems, and various heavy-duty machinery. Your responsibilities will encompass executing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, swiftly diagnosing complex electrical faults, and performing precise repairs to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment including motors, generators, switchgear, transformers, and control panels.
  • Diagnose electrical faults accurately and efficiently, and implement corrective actions to restore operational functionality.
  • Install, inspect, and commission new electrical systems and equipment in accordance with design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and ensure all electrical work complies with company safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, equipment history, and parts usage.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including mechanical technicians and operations personnel, to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and system failures, providing timely technical support and solutions.
  • Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical safety and maintenance practices.
  • Ensure proper calibration and functionality of electrical test equipment and tools.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Technician in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or oil and gas environment.
  • Thorough understanding of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, and motor control circuits.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical faults using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices, including arc flash hazards and LOTO procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., COREN registration for engineers, trade certifications for technicians).
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Familiarity with Nigeria's electrical codes and standards.
  • Prior experience working in an offshore or hazardous environment.
  • Advanced training in power electronics or industrial automation.
