Job Description
Sunrise Hotel Apapa is actively seeking a diligent, meticulous, and experienced Laundry Staff member to join our dynamic team, specifically for the essential morning shift. This critical role is integral to maintaining our high standards of guest satisfaction and overall operational excellence. As Laundry Staff, you will be entrusted with the entire laundry process, ensuring all hotel linens, towels, staff uniforms, and any guest items are impeccably cleaned, pressed, and prepared for immediate use. Your duties will commence early in the morning, requiring punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic to efficiently manage the daily volume of laundry. This position demands careful and knowledgeable handling of various fabric types, proficient operation of industrial-grade laundry equipment, and strict adherence to all established hygiene and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Sort all laundry items (including linens, towels, uniforms, and guest items) according to fabric type, color, and degree of soiling.
- Effectively pre-treat stains and apply appropriate detergents and chemicals, adhering to product guidelines.
- Fold, iron, and stack cleaned items neatly and according to strict hotel standards for presentation and storage.
- Thoroughly inspect all laundered items for cleanliness, damage, and proper presentation before distribution.
- Monitor inventory levels of all laundry supplies (detergents, softeners, hangers, etc.) and accurately report needs to management.
- Adhere strictly to all hotel hygiene, health, and safety regulations and procedures, including proper chemical handling.
- Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and safe laundry area throughout the entire morning shift.
- Handle delicate guest laundry requests with utmost care, discretion, and attention to specific instructions.
- Assist with other hotel operational tasks as required, especially during peak periods or staff shortages.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in laundry operations, preferably within a hotel or guesthouse setting.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot commercial laundry equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various fabric types and appropriate washing/drying methods.
- Strong attention to detail and unwavering commitment to high-quality results.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy laundry bags, and push carts.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage daily workload efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively and remain calm in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Basic understanding of health, safety, and hygiene protocols in a commercial setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent qualification.
