Job Description
Chevron Nigeria Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Kara Market, Lagos. The successful candidate will be instrumental in overseeing the full lifecycle of complex oil and gas projects, from conceptualization and planning through execution, monitoring, and closure. This role demands a proactive leader with a proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. You will be responsible for defining project scope, developing detailed project plans, managing resources, mitigating risks, and effectively communicating progress to all stakeholders. The Project Manager will also play a critical role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging best practices in project management, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of project lifecycle from initiation to closure, including scope definition, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and successful completion.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures, ensuring adherence to financial targets and reporting on variances.
- Oversee cross-functional project teams, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to ensure high performance and successful outcomes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing contingency plans to minimize potential impact on project delivery.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all project stakeholders, including senior management, vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure strict compliance with Chevron's Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress, prepare regular status reports, and conduct performance reviews to ensure alignment with project objectives and organizational goals.
- Manage contractor performance and relationships, ensuring deliverables meet contractual obligations and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Proven experience in managing complex capital projects from conception to completion.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2) and practical application.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate diverse teams.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and schedules effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on risk mitigation and issue resolution.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- Experience with subsea projects or large-scale deepwater developments.
- Knowledge of Nigerian local content requirements and regulations within the O&G sector.
