Chevron Nigeria Limited is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Engineer to join our dynamic team in Surulere, Lagos. This is an urgent hiring for a critical role vital to the smooth and safe operation of our extensive marine fleet and offshore facilities. As a Marine Engineer at Chevron, you will be at the forefront of maintaining the operational integrity, reliability, and efficiency of our diverse range of marine assets, including supply vessels, tugboats, barges, and potentially Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units. The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive management, maintenance, and repair of all marine machinery and systems. This includes, but is not limited to, propulsion systems, power generation units, auxiliary machinery, cargo handling equipment, and safety systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all marine machinery and systems on vessels and offshore installations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults, implementing effective corrective measures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to international maritime conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW) and local Nigerian maritime regulations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, procurement, and liaise with suppliers for specialized equipment and services.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, procedures, and safety protocols for marine engineering operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and statutory certifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff and marine crew members.
  • Participate in vessel audits, surveys, and dry-docking activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of new technologies and best practices in marine engineering.

Required Skills

  • Class 1 (Chief Engineer) or Class 2 (Second Engineer) Marine Engineer Officer's Certificate of Competency (COC).
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as a Marine Engineer on offshore vessels or installations.
  • Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, power generation, auxiliary machinery, and vessel systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Excellent understanding of maritime safety management systems (SMS) and environmental regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment and under pressure.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and computer-aided maintenance systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or additional certifications in a specialized marine engineering discipline.
  • Experience with Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) operations.
  • Familiarity with Chevron’s operational standards and safety procedures.
  • Project management experience in marine engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian oil and gas industry specific regulations.
