Job Description

Congo Airways is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Airline Check-in Agent to join our Airport Operations team in Kikwit, Kwilu Province. This is a pivotal full-time role that serves as the first point of contact for our passengers, embodying the professionalism and service quality of Congo Airways. You will be responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient check-in process, assisting passengers with their travel needs, verifying documentation, and processing baggage. Key Responsibilities

  • Greet passengers warmly and provide excellent customer service during the check-in process.
  • Verify passenger travel documents, including tickets, passports, visas, and other required identification.
  • Process passenger check-ins efficiently, assign seats, and issue boarding passes.
  • Handle baggage acceptance, weighing, tagging, and ensuring compliance with airline regulations.
  • Assist passengers with special requests, inquiries, flight changes, and general information.
  • Resolve passenger issues and complaints with professionalism and a problem-solving approach.
  • Adhere strictly to all security, safety, and operational procedures and regulations.
  • Operate airport systems and equipment, including check-in counters and baggage handling systems.
  • Coordinate with other airport personnel, including ground staff and security, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide clear and concise announcements regarding flight information, delays, or changes.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area at the check-in counter.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service role, preferably within the aviation, hospitality, or retail sectors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in French and Lingala (both written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite, email) and ability to quickly learn airline-specific software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic airport environment, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle challenging customer situations with patience and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for handling passenger documents and baggage.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Must be physically able to stand for extended periods and lift/move baggage up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Aviation Management, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with airline check-in systems (e.g., Altea, Sabre) or other airport operational software.
  • Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Kikongo, Tshiluba).
  • Knowledge of aviation security procedures and regulations.
  • First Aid certification.
