Job Description
First Response Security Services is seeking a highly vigilant and professional Security Patrol Officer to join our dedicated team, safeguarding a prominent industrial park located in Fallowfield, Manchester. This crucial role involves maintaining a secure and safe environment for tenants, employees, and assets across the entire industrial complex. As a Security Patrol Officer, you will be the eyes and ears on the ground, responsible for deterring criminal activity, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with site regulations. You will be expected to conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols across designated areas of the industrial park, paying close attention to vulnerable points, perimeter fences, and unusual activities. Your daily tasks will include monitoring CCTV systems, performing access control duties for vehicles and pedestrians, and challenging unauthorized individuals. Furthermore, you will be responsible for locking and unlocking premises, responding to alarms, and managing emergency situations such as fires or medical incidents until emergency services arrive. Effective report writing is paramount, detailing all patrols, incidents, and observations accurately and promptly. This role requires an individual who is not only physically capable of extended patrols but also mentally sharp, able to assess situations rapidly and make sound decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of the industrial park, identifying and reporting any security breaches or suspicious activities.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarms, responding promptly and appropriately to all alerts.
- Perform access control duties, verifying identification and authorizing entry for personnel and vehicles.
- Respond effectively to incidents such as theft, vandalism, medical emergencies, and unauthorized entry, following established protocols.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and observation notes.
- Ensure compliance with all site-specific security procedures and health and safety regulations.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter criminal activity and maintain order.
- Conduct routine checks of gates, fences, and other security infrastructure.
- Liaise effectively with site management, emergency services, and the First Response Security Services operations centre.
- Assist visitors and employees with directions and general inquiries while maintaining security protocols.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Basic IT proficiency for report writing and communication
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Physical fitness to undertake patrols, which may involve extended walking or standing
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a security role, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting
- Full UK Driving Licence with access to own transport (advantageous for site travel)
- First Aid at Work certification
- CCTV Public Space Surveillance (PSS) Licence
- Demonstrable experience with incident response and emergency procedures
