Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Inventory Officer to join our dedicated team in Ojodu, Ikeja. This full-time role is critical to maintaining the efficiency and profitability of our retail operations by ensuring optimal stock levels, accurate record-keeping, and streamlined product movement. As an Inventory Officer, you will be at the forefront of managing our valuable assets, from receipt to dispatch, ensuring that our shelves are always stocked with what our customers need, and that waste and discrepancies are minimized. You will play a vital role in implementing robust inventory control procedures, conducting regular audits, and collaborating closely with various departments, including sales, procurement, and warehousing. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory records using the company’s inventory management system.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile them with system records, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels to ensure optimal inventory and prevent stock-outs or overstocking.
- Oversee the receiving, storing, and issuing of goods, ensuring proper documentation and quality control.
- Implement and enforce inventory control procedures and best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce losses.
- Prepare comprehensive inventory reports, including stock movement, valuations, and discrepancy analyses.
- Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and ensure timely replenishment of stock.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of products to prevent damage, spoilage, or theft.
- Train and supervise junior inventory staff or warehouse personnel on inventory procedures.
- Participate in year-end inventory audits and provide necessary data for financial reporting.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Inventory Officer or in a similar inventory management role.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory modules.
- Knowledge of retail industry best practices in inventory control.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 25kg when required.
