Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Packaging Assistant to join our manufacturing and production team based at our Highgate location. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently package a diverse range of food products, including baked goods, prepared meals, preserves, and dry goods, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
  • Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring they meet Melrose and Morgan's high standards before packaging.
  • Label products correctly with relevant information such as ingredients, allergens, batch numbers, and best-before dates, adhering to all food safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organised packaging area, strictly following all hygiene and sanitation protocols and HACCP guidelines.
  • Assist with stock rotation and inventory management of packaging materials, reporting any shortages to the team leader.
  • Operate basic packaging equipment safely and effectively, performing routine checks and basic maintenance.
  • Collaborate effectively with the production, kitchen, and retail teams to ensure a smooth workflow and timely delivery of packaged goods.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Assist with other general duties within the production area as required to support team objectives.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good physical stamina, capable of standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading labels and managing stock.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety principles.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing, packaging, or kitchen environment.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with HACCP principles.
  • Experience with various packaging machinery and techniques.
