As our Public Relations Officer, you will be at the forefront of crafting compelling stories that resonate with our audience, ensuring consistency in our brand messaging, and proactively engaging with media outlets and influencers. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive public relations strategies and campaigns aligned with Rawbank’s brand objectives and business goals.
  • Proactively cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, journalists, influencers, and industry thought leaders in DRC and beyond.
  • Draft compelling press releases, media kits, speeches, articles, and other PR materials that articulate Rawbank’s key messages and achievements.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on media coverage and public sentiment, providing strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for media inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Manage crisis communication effectively, developing strategies and messaging to mitigate negative publicity and protect brand reputation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing, Digital, and CSR teams to ensure integrated communication efforts across all platforms.
  • Organize and manage press conferences, media briefings, and other PR events.
  • Support internal communications initiatives to ensure employee alignment with brand values and strategic direction.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for positive brand exposure through sponsorships, partnerships, and community engagement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in public relations, corporate communications, or brand management, preferably within a regulated industry.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both French and English (proficiency in Lingala or Swahili is a strong asset).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful PR campaigns.
  • Strong media relations expertise with a network of contacts in DRC.
  • Crisis communication and issues management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in PR measurement tools and media monitoring software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects concurrently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proficiency with digital PR and social media management.
  • Understanding of the socio-economic and political landscape of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Experience working with international media outlets.
