Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and provide comprehensive counselling on their proper use, potential side effects, and storage.
- Conduct medication therapy management reviews to optimize patient outcomes and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications.
- Verify the accuracy of prescriptions, ensuring correct dosage, patient information, and physician authorization.
- Provide advice on over-the-counter medications and health supplements, recommending appropriate products based on patient needs.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating pharmaceutical supplies to minimize waste and ensure product availability.
- Maintain precise patient records and uphold strict confidentiality in accordance with professional and legal standards.
- Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and assistants, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
- Stay abreast of new pharmaceutical developments, drug information, and changes in pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism and empathy.
- Participate in community health initiatives and preventative care programs as required.
Required Skills
- Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica
- Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution
- Proven experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting
- Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical products, dosages, and drug interactions
- Strong understanding of pharmacy laws and ethical guidelines in Jamaica
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and general computer applications
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
