Job Description
Shell Nigeria is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Geologist to join our dynamic exploration and production team based in Ogudu, Kosofe, Lagos. This is an immediate hiring opportunity for a professional who is passionate about contributing to Nigeria’s energy future, both in conventional and emerging energy solutions. As a Geologist at Shell, you will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and developing hydrocarbon resources, ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of energy that powers communities and industries. You will be instrumental in interpreting complex geological data, from seismic surveys to well logs and core samples, to build robust subsurface models that guide drilling and production strategies.
This position offers a unique chance to work on challenging and impactful projects within a world-leading energy company, leveraging cutting-edge technology and collaborating with a diverse team of experts across various disciplines including geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, and drilling. Your insights will directly influence key decision-making processes, from prospect generation to field development planning and reserves estimation. We are looking for an individual with a strong foundation in geology, excellent analytical capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Beyond traditional oil and gas exploration, Shell is committed to powering progress together with more and cleaner energy solutions. Your role will involve understanding the subsurface for both hydrocarbon potential and potentially for future energy transition projects like carbon capture and storage or geothermal applications, contributing to Shell’s net-zero emissions target. This isn’t just a job; it’s an opportunity to contribute to a global energy leader’s mission to meet the world’s growing energy demand responsibly. You will engage in prospect generation, risk assessment, volumetrics, and peer reviews, ensuring geological uncertainties are minimized and opportunities maximized. We value innovative thinking and encourage our geologists to explore new methodologies and technologies to enhance subsurface understanding and efficiency. If you thrive in a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented environment, and are eager to make a tangible difference in the energy sector, we encourage you to apply. Join Shell, where your expertise will be valued, and your career growth will be fostered through continuous learning and development opportunities. We champion a culture of safety, integrity, and respect, and are dedicated to empowering our employees to achieve their full potential. This role provides exposure to diverse geological settings, from deepwater to onshore environments, offering a rich experience base for career advancement. You’ll be part of a team that’s constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in energy exploration and production.
