Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Barista to join our dynamic café team at Protea Hotel by Marriott Ikeja GRA. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages, teas, smoothies, and other drinks according to hotel standards and guest preferences.
- Operate and maintain all coffee-making equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning at all times.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, handling cash and card transactions with precision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting café counter and seating area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients, reporting any shortages.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner, providing recommendations and excellent customer service.
- Assist with other café duties as required, including light food preparation and serving pastries.
- Adhere to all hotel policies and procedures, including those related to hygiene, safety, and security.
- Collaborate effectively with other café and hotel team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Continuously learn about new coffee trends, brewing techniques, and product offerings to enhance guest experience.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Barista or in a similar food & beverage role.
- Proven ability to operate espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment.
- Strong knowledge of coffee types, brewing methods, and beverage preparation.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic math skills and experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- A passion for coffee and a commitment to delivering high-quality products.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Barista skills or a related culinary/hospitality field.
- Experience with latte art and advanced coffee techniques.
- Previous experience working in a hotel or high-volume café.
- Fluency in additional languages beyond English.
- A proactive and positive attitude with a strong team-player mindset.
