As a Night Shift Security Officer, you will be the cornerstone of security during crucial overnight hours, responsible for safeguarding residents, properties, and valuable assets. Your duties will extend beyond mere surveillance, encompassing active and consistent patrols, stringent access control, rapid and effective response to incidents, and meticulous record-keeping. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, thorough, and visible patrols of the estate premises, including perimeters, common areas, residential blocks, and designated checkpoints, specifically during night hours.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems diligently, interpreting feeds and responding promptly and appropriately to any suspicious activities, breaches, or emergencies.
- Control and manage access points for residents, authorized visitors, and vendors, ensuring strict adherence to estate security policies and procedures.
- Document all incidents, observations, significant events, and daily activities accurately and comprehensively in detailed written and electronic reports.
- Respond effectively and efficiently to emergencies such as medical incidents, fire alarms, security breaches, and other critical situations, escalating to appropriate authorities when necessary.
- Enforce estate rules and regulations firmly, fairly, and consistently, ensuring a safe and harmonious living environment for all residents.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow security personnel, estate management, and local law enforcement agencies as required to ensure coordinated security efforts.
- Provide assistance and accurate information to residents in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner, while strictly maintaining security integrity.
- Maintain a high level of visibility and deterrence through consistent presence, vigilance, and adherence to professional conduct.
- Undertake any other security-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by superiors or required by the operational demands of the estate.
Required Skills
- Proven experience of at least 2 years as a Security Officer or in a similar protective services role.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and identifying potential threats.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, for effective reporting and interaction.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive under pressure and in emergency situations.
- Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, including climbing stairs and navigating uneven terrain.
- Solid knowledge of security protocols, procedures, emergency response, and basic first aid.
- High level of integrity, honesty, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing, email communication, and system monitoring.
- Must be able to work the night shift reliably and consistently without supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal security training certification from a recognized institution (e.g., Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps training).
- Prior experience specifically in residential estate security, corporate security, or hospitality security.
- Familiarity with advanced CCTV monitoring systems and modern access control technologies.
- Possession of a valid Nigerian driver's license.
- Knowledge of the local Oyingbo/Yaba area and community dynamics.
