Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Administrator to join our dynamic IT team in Port Harcourt. As a Network Administrator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stable operation of the in-house computer network, including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. This role requires a professional who is passionate about network security, performance, and reliability, capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative team to support our critical banking operations. You will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems, offering technical support to users, and collaborating with other IT specialists and vendors to ensure seamless service delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network segments.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability, including performing regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Configure and troubleshoot network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN devices.
- Manage network security, including firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control policies.
- Implement and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and inventory records.
- Perform routine system backups and recovery operations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on network-related issues.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to implement new systems and services, ensuring network compatibility and performance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator or similar role.
- Solid understanding of network operating systems (e.g., Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, Windows Server, Linux).
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and protocols (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow).
- Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and management (e.g., FortiGate, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or similar.
- Experience with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and best practices.
