Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations within Lagos and surrounding areas.
- Ensure timely delivery of packages, adhering strictly to delivery schedules and optimal routes.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are roadworthy and reporting any mechanical issues promptly to the fleet management.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including waybills, manifests, and electronic proof of delivery (ePOD).
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Interact professionally and courteously with clients, providing excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.
- Assist with the careful loading and unloading of packages as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods to prevent damage.
- Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and well-maintained, representing the company's professional image.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen circumstances.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or equivalent for commercial vehicles)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably within a logistics or courier environment
- Proven clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks, traffic patterns, and alternative routes
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (e.g., oil, water, tire pressure, fluid levels)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach
- High degree of reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Ability to lift and move packages of varying weights safely
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving various types of commercial vehicles (e.g., vans, small trucks, 3-wheelers)
- Defensive driving certification or advanced driving training
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent
- Familiarity with using navigation tools and mobile applications for route optimization and tracking
- Experience with electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) systems and handheld devices
