Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing engaging, age-appropriate educational activities based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy and Te Whāriki curriculum.
  • Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through play-based learning.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organised learning environment.
  • Observe and document children's learning and progress, contributing to portfolio development.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, professional development, and centre events.
  • Provide respectful and nurturing care for children, including supervising play, assisting with routines (e.g., mealtimes, toileting), and managing behaviour positively.
  • Collaborate with senior teachers to create inclusive and inspiring learning spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or Diploma in Early Childhood Education (or working towards one).
  • Provisional or full teacher registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Familiarity with Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum.
