Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and proactive Network Administrator with a passion for ensuring robust connectivity and impenetrable security? Equity Bank Congo (DRC) in Uvira is seeking a dedicated professional to join our technology team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our local and wide area networks, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security for all banking operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable network architectures (LAN/WAN, VPNs) for optimal bank operations.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and resolve network outages promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Configure and manage network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Implement and enforce network security policies, procedures, and controls to protect sensitive financial data and systems.
  • Conduct regular network audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Manage and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and external vendors for hardware/software procurement, installation, and support.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal security policies, industry regulations, and data protection standards.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation related to network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior IT staff on network-related matters.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in network administration and cybersecurity in a professional environment.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.
  • Proficiency with firewall configuration and management (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto).
  • Experience with VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN) and remote access solutions.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles, vulnerability management, and threat mitigation.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network problems efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE 4+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and security best practices (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Experience in the financial services sector or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proficiency in both English and French (Swahili is a plus).
