Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Housekeeping Manager to lead our dedicated housekeeping team at Dorsett Shepherds Bush. As a pivotal leader within our hotel, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the housekeeping operation, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, guest comfort, and aesthetic presentation are consistently met across all 317 guest rooms, suites, and public areas. This role demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional organisational skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a pristine environment that enhances our boutique hotel’s reputation. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the entire housekeeping department, including supervisors, room attendants, and public area cleaners.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and aesthetic presentation in all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Oversee the scheduling, training, and performance management of the housekeeping team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with hotel standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Manage departmental budget, control expenses, and monitor inventory levels for cleaning supplies, linen, and guest amenities.
  • Implement and manage effective lost and found procedures.
  • Coordinate closely with the Front Office and Maintenance departments to ensure seamless guest services and timely resolution of room-related issues.
  • Handle guest complaints and special requests efficiently and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in housekeeping operations, including sustainability practices and adoption of new technologies.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and safe to use, reporting any malfunctions promptly.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in housekeeping management, preferably within a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
  • Proven leadership ability with strong team management and motivational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for maintaining impeccable standards.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with guests, staff, and other departments.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software (PMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • Experience with sustainable housekeeping practices and eco-friendly cleaning solutions.
  • Knowledge of multiple languages is a plus.
  • First Aid certification.
