Bright Starts Day Nursery Finaghy is seeking a vibrant Full-Time Childcare Assistant to join our dedicated team. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of creative and age-appropriate educational activities and play experiences.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Support children with personal care routines, including feeding, nappy changing, and toileting, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
  • Observe and record children's progress, contributing to their developmental profiles and communicating effectively with parents/guardians.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, demonstrating a positive attitude and contributing to a strong team dynamic.
  • Adhere to all nursery policies and procedures, including health and safety, safeguarding, and equal opportunities.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, acting as a reliable point of contact for daily communication.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a childcare setting or similar environment.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, Early Years Education, or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • A patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paediatric First Aid certificate.
  • Experience with specific early years frameworks (e.g., EYFS in England, Foundation Stage in Northern Ireland).
  • A keen interest in continuous professional development within the early years sector.
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate young children through play and learning.
