Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of retail assistants, fostering a positive and high-performance work culture.
  • Oversee daily store operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Manage visual merchandising, ensuring the store is always presented to the highest M&S standards, maximizing product appeal and availability.
  • Drive sales performance by monitoring key metrics, identifying opportunities, and coaching the team to achieve targets.
  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally, resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, accurate stock counts, and efficient replenishment processes.
  • Conduct regular team briefings and provide constructive feedback to support individual and team development.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and security protocols are adhered to, creating a safe environment for both customers and colleagues.
  • Support the Store Manager in administrative tasks and operational planning as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a retail supervisory or team leader role within a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with customers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of retail operations, including merchandising, stock control, and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets and drive business performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per retail demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Retail Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with fresh food retail operations and quality control.
  • Proficiency in using retail management software and analytical tools.
  • First Aid certification.
