Job Description
We are seeking a highly professional, reliable, and experienced Driver to join our dynamic team in Goma, North Kivu Province. This critical role involves providing safe, efficient, and timely personal and corporate transport services for our esteemed staff, clients, and important deliveries. As a Driver for DHL Express, you will be an integral part of our operational success, ensuring that our personnel reach their destinations safely and comfortably, and that vital documents and packages are transported securely across Goma and surrounding areas.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will extend beyond simply driving; you will be expected to maintain the highest standards of vehicle care, adhere strictly to traffic laws and company safety protocols, and represent DHL Express with professionalism and courtesy at all times. This position demands excellent defensive driving skills, a strong understanding of local routes and road conditions, and a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and problem-solving. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport DHL Express staff, clients, and authorized personnel to various destinations within Goma and, occasionally, to surrounding regions as required.
- Ensure timely collection and delivery of corporate documents, packages, and other items, maintaining strict confidentiality and security protocols.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.
- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the vehicle, inside and out.
- Accurately complete logbooks, mileage records, and other necessary documentation for all journeys.
- Adhere to all local traffic laws, company driving policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents promptly to the transport manager.
- Assist with loading and unloading items as necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Plan efficient routes, considering traffic, road conditions, and time constraints to ensure prompt arrivals.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all passengers and stakeholders, reflecting DHL's brand image.
- Be available for flexible working hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, to meet operational demands.
Required Skills
- Valid professional driving license appropriate for DR Congo (Category B or higher)
- Minimum of 2 years of proven professional driving experience, preferably in a corporate or logistics environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Goma city roads, routes, and traffic regulations.
- Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a polite and professional demeanor.
- High degree of reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to read and understand maps and GPS devices.
- Fluency in French and Swahili (both verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with defensive driving techniques and certifications.
- Prior experience working with international organizations or reputable companies.
- Basic first aid certification.
