(ICRS) is actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our dynamic technical team based in Southborough, Portmore. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional who excels in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse array of refrigeration and HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction for our valued clients.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support for both residential and commercial clients throughout Portmore and surrounding areas. Your daily tasks will range from troubleshooting complex HVAC issues in commercial buildings to performing routine preventative maintenance on industrial chillers, cold rooms, and domestic refrigerators. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also possesses excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to safety and quality. The ideal candidate will be adept at working independently on service calls, managing their time effectively, and accurately documenting all service activities. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in various refrigeration systems (fridges, freezers, ice machines, cold rooms, chillers) and HVAC units (split systems, central air, VRF systems).
- Perform skilled repair and replacement of components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, fans, control boards, sensors, and expansion valves.
- Execute routine preventative maintenance on all types of refrigeration and HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and longevity.
- Conduct refrigerant recovery, recycling, and charging procedures in strict compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Install new refrigeration and HVAC systems, ensuring proper setup, calibration, testing, and commissioning.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all service calls, repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used, utilizing our digital tracking system.
- Provide exceptional customer service, explaining technical issues clearly to clients and offering effective, lasting solutions.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, industry best practices, and local regulations at all times.
- Respond to emergency service calls in a timely, professional, and efficient manner, often outside of regular business hours.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Refrigeration and HVAC Technician.
- Proficiency in diagnosing electrical and mechanical problems in various cooling systems.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, components, and their interaction.
- Competency in refrigerant handling, recovery, evacuation, and charging procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or diploma in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or HVAC from a recognized institution.
- Familiarity with various brands and types of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment.
- Experience with smart HVAC systems, building management systems (BMS), and automation controls.
- OSHA or equivalent workplace safety certification.
- Experience working in diverse environments (residential, commercial, industrial sectors).
- Brazing and welding certification.
