Are you an experienced and safety-conscious Forklift Operator looking for a steady day shift role within a fast-paced and essential logistics environment? Menzies Distribution, a cornerstone of the UK’s supply chain, is seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team in Edinburgh. This full-time position offers the opportunity to play a critical role in our daily operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods within our busy distribution centre. You’ll be responsible for the safe and precise operation of counterbalance and/or reach forklifts, handling a diverse range of products. Your expertise will be crucial in loading and unloading vehicles, stacking goods securely in designated areas, and assisting with inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate counterbalance and/or reach forklifts to move, stack, and retrieve products.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement of goods.
- Perform daily pre-operation checks on forklifts and report any defects or maintenance requirements immediately.
- Adhere strictly to all company health and safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Accurately pick and pack orders using handheld scanners or manual systems as required.
- Assist with the organisation and cleanliness of the warehouse, maintaining clear aisles and safe working areas.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and meet operational targets.
- Support inventory control activities, including cycle counting and stock rotation.
- Ensure all documentation (e.g., delivery notes, pick lists) is completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Assist in other general warehouse duties as needed to support overall operations.
Required Skills
- Valid and in-date Forklift Operator license (Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck).
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding and commitment to health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects when required.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld scanners.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques.
- Previous experience in a logistics or distribution setting.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workloads.
